Race Report by Jake Mayo

Last weekend was round 5 of the JBRL Nitro series held at Wild West RC Track. The track crew did a great job by keeping the track watered all day for some great racing. I was able to go down to Wild West a week before JBRL to get some practice/testing in before the race. This was very helpful going into the race by already knowing what setup I needed to run and I was comfortable with the track.

I showed up early Saturday morning to get my FX engine tuned and get a feel for the track. I raced both my XB8 and XB8E. In qualifying I struggled to have a crash free run in both classes. This leld me to qualify 4th in nitro buggy and 6th in ebuggy. I felt like both my cars had the speed to run in the top 3 I just needed to have a mistake free race.

In the nitro buggy main I made a mistake on the first lap that dropped me one spot to 5th. I regrouped and was able to battle my way to the front. I got to the lead and just tried to drive mistake free till the finish. I was able to hold on for win and gain some points in the series.
