Nicht ganz, aber irgendwie doch erfolgreich lief die diesj\u00e4hrige EFRA Europameisterschaft Large Scale Offroad in England ab. Im Gegensatz zur letzten Europameisterschaft im letzten Jahr hielt die Kunstrasenstrecke den Belastungen der Fahrzeuge gut stand und es wurde toller Rennsport gezeigt. Wer sich an die Strecke, sorry „Acker“ im letzten Jahr erinnert ein krasser Gegensatz. Da es in diesem Jahr nicht mehr erlaubt war in zwei Klassen zu starten entschied sich der Europameister Short Course, Sven Rodewald f\u00fcr 4WD. Eine Titelverteidigung war somit nicht m\u00f6glich. Der Sieg ging an\u00a0Mathew Perry. Mit Marc Kreisig hatte das deutsche Team auf Platz 3 dennoch einen Grund zur Freude \u263a. In der Klasse 4WD anzutreten war f\u00fcr Sven Rodewald genau die richtige Entscheidung. Er war ab den Vorl\u00e4ufen schon dicht an dem F\u00fchrenden dran und dies blieb im Finale nicht anders. Auf Pole stand der 14-j\u00e4hrige Finn Pekko Iivonen, der jedoch die F\u00fchrung an den amtierenden Champion Dario Veseli abgeben musste. Danach entwickelte sich ein fast 20min\u00fctiger Kampf mit Frances ‚Valentin Peuziat. Dario behauptete schlie\u00dflich seine \u00dcberlegenheit an der Spitze, jedoch gab es in den letzten paar Minuten ein verr\u00fccktes Ende. Peuziat und Iivonen blieben mit leerem Tank stehen zur Freude von Sven Rodenwald und Stu Wood, die auf Platz 2 und 3 \u00a0auf dem Siegerpodest standen. Gl\u0171ckwunsch.<\/p>\n

Finals day at the Nene Valley Raceway saw the first fully dry day of the event and some great\u00a0 racing across all the bump up finals culminating\u00a0 3 cracking European Championship Main Finals.<\/p>\n

In 4WD 14 year old Finn Pekko Iivonen started in pole but it was reigning champion Dario Veseli who took the early lead before coming embroiled in a 20 minute battle for first with Frances\u2019 Valentin Peuziat. Dario finally asserted his superiority in the final few minutes before a crazy end which saw both Peuziat and Iivonen fail to finish with fuel issues promoting Sven Rodenwald to second and Stu Wood to a delighted, and surprised third.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

2WD<\/p>\n

In 2WD Ken Walckiers of Belgium finally became a European champion after leading 3 previous finals but failing to get over the line first. This year however there were to be no mistakes and Ken truly dominated the field, wining at a canter. Behind him Mike Plekkepoel and Karl Norriss fought hard for the runners up spot with the Dutchman Mike finally triumphing<\/p>\n

Short Course<\/p>\n

The Short course final saw an incredibly tense race where despite a lights to flag victory for Mathew Perry he was never more than 3 seconds in the lead and for the vast majority had either Tommy Chung or Marc Kresig stuck to this rear mudflaps. In the end it was a British 1-2\u00a0 with Marc having to settle for the final step on the podium<\/p>\n
