{"id":177857,"date":"2018-08-05T17:26:09","date_gmt":"2018-08-05T15:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikanews.de\/?p=177857"},"modified":"2018-08-05T17:27:34","modified_gmt":"2018-08-05T15:27:34","slug":"efra-18th-ic-off-road-euros-finals-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikanews.de\/?p=177857","title":{"rendered":"EFRA 1\/8th IC Off Road Euros &#8211; Finals report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nach einem dramatischen Tag in Portugal wurde ein neuer Europameister gekr\u00f6nt.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Als das Halbfinale begann, war die Rede davon, wer hinter Davide Ongrao wohl Vizeweltmeister sein w\u00fcrde. So wie Davide die Vorl\u00e4ufe dominierte. Aber nur 90 Sekunden nach dem Start des Halbfinals \u00e4nderte sich alles, als das Fahrzeug des italienische Fahrers ausging und dann mit einem gebrochenen vorderen rechten C-Hub ausschied. Aufgrund einer k\u00fcrzlich erfolgten Regel\u00e4nderung bei den EFRA-Veranstaltungen war Davide jedoch nicht komplett aus dem Rennen, da es ein Last Chance Qualifier-Rennen gab. Beim LCQ-Event treten alle Nicht-Qualifikanten aus den Halbfinalen gegeneinander an. Der Gewinner kann im Endlauf von dem letzten Startplatz teilnehmen. Dramatik pur, aber dies sorgte f\u00fcr Spannung.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00fcr Ongaro war dies noch eine Chance ins Finale zu kommen. Nach einem holprigen Start fing der junge Italiener an, sich durch das Feld zu fl\u00fcgen. Unglaublich, er schaffte den Laufsieg und startete von Platz 13 im Finale. Keine gute Ausgangsposition, aber erstmal wenigstens im Finale.<\/p>\n<p>An der Spitze des Endlaufs stand Weltmeister David Ronnefalk, der in seinem Halbfinal sehr gut unterwegs vor. Dahinter folgte der junge Spanier Jaun Carlos Canas vor Bruno Coelho und dem noch amtierenden Europameister Robert Battle auf 4, der eine Auszeit nahm und so aus der Boxengasse starten musste.<\/p>\n<p>Nicht ganz so optimal verlief der Start f\u00fcr David Ronnefalk nach einem Fehler. Der Kampf um den Titel war er\u00f6ffnet. An der Spitze baute Jaun Carlos Canas eine kleine F\u00fchrung von Bruno aus, doch alle Augen waren auf Ongaro gerichtet, als er dahinter immer n\u00e4her kam. Dahinter hatten Ronnefalk und Battle auf der rutschigen Oberfl\u00e4che schon deutlichen R\u00fcckstand. An der Spitze wechselte die F\u00fchrung zwischen Canas und Coelho. Dies lag an den leicht unterschiedliche Boxenstopp-Strategien. Eine aggressive Strategie verfolgte Ongaro, der einen Tankstopp mehr am Ende ben\u00f6tigte. Ongaro kam zwischendurch immer n\u00e4her, aber um die 30-Minuten-Marke des 45-Minuten-Finales begannen leichte Fehler an der Spitze. Es wurde schnell klar, dass Bruno einen Boxenstopp weniger ben\u00f6tigen w\u00fcrde. Nach den Titeln der Europameisterschaften im 1: 10. IC Track, 4WD Elektro Offroad (2) und jetzt 1\/8 IC Off Road, IFMAR WM 1\/10 4WD und mehrfacher Finallist bei der Elektro-Tourenwagen-WM und Finalist bei 1\/10 bzw. 1\/8 IC WC, geh\u00f6rt er zu den besten Fahrern der Welt, die in mehreren Klassen erfolgreich sind.<\/p>\n<p>Die Finale bei RC Racing TV noch einmal sehen. However just 90 seconds into the race all that changed as the Italians car first flamed and then retired with a broken front right hub. However due to a recent rule change at EFRA events all was not completely lost for Davide as there was a Last Chance Qualifier race. The LCQ event pits all the non-qualifiers from the semi-finals together in a winner takes all race for the final spot on the A Main Grid.<\/p>\n<p>But starting last Ongaro would have his work cut out to get to the front in the 10 minutes of the race. After a rocky start the young Italian began to scythe through the field, and managed to hit the front with a minute to go, meaning he would stat 13th in the final.<\/p>\n<p>Lining up at the front of the A Main was World Champions David Ronnefalk who seemed to have put his woes of qualifying behind him with an imperious display in his semi Final. Next up was young Spaniard Jaun Carlos Canas with Local Hero Bruno Coelho in 3rd and reigning European Champion Robert Battle due to be in 4th before he had to call a 10 minute timeout and therefore would start from the pitlane.<\/p>\n<p>From the start the drama came with a mistake very early on dropping pole man Ronnefalk down to last as the field streaked through before he could be marshalled and Ongaro and Battle beginning to rapidly climb up the order.<\/p>\n<p>At the front Jaun Carlos Canas was establishing a small lead from Bruno, but all eyes were now on Ongaro\u2019s progress as he began to drag up to the leading pair.<\/p>\n<p>At halfway the challenges of Ronnefalk and Battle had disappeared on the slippy surface and the lead was rotating between Canas and Coelho as they pursued slightly different pit stop strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Ongaro was getting closer but around the 30 minute mark of the 45 minute final Canas\u2019 bid began to falter and it would be left for Davide and Bruno to fight it out to the finish. It quickly became apparent that Bruno had a pit stop in hand so despite being close on the track he was actually in a comfortable position.\u00a0 That last stop was carried out by his stellar and world championship winning crew of Gord and Ty Tessman and the Portuguese superstar drove it home to the wild acclaim of the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>With this result Bruno now can rightly be considered up there with the other greats of RC, winning European championships in 1:10th IC Track, 4WD Electric Off Road (2) and now 1\/8th IC Off Road, added to his WC in electric Off Road, Runner up in the 1\/10th Electric Touring Car Worlds and a finalist at 1\/10th and 1\/8th IC WC\u2019s. Is he the best ever? Well at the moment that crown probably belongs to Atsushi Hara but with 3 World championships coming up\u00a0 2 of which he\u2019ll be among the favourites for that could all
