Am letzten Wochenende fiel die Entscheidung in dem letzten Lauf der Longwy Winter Series beim MRCL. Florian Joos konnte in der Klasse Stock mit seinem Xray T4 gewinnen.

Race Report by Florian Joos
The last round of the Longwy Winter Series was held over the weekend of 29/2 and March 1st. The MRCL club is situated in northern France and the club is famous for making great layouts. This time, the layout was quite fast and challenging. On Saturday there were 8 round of free practice, which came in handy because I didn’t race or test after the ETS in Daun.
As always we ran both modified and stock with the Xray T4 20 with aluminium flex chassis. We started our first session with the cars setup like the last final in Daun. The higher roll centers and small rear toe in (2 degrees) made the car a bit too difficult to drive on the low grip track. By the 4th round we decided to lower the roll centers and increase the rear toe in to 2.5 degrees, which made the car easier to drive and faster. By the 6th session I was still in the lead, but the car remained a bit tricky to drive. We left before the last session, and I was in P4 in stock when the day ended.
In modified I also ended the day in P4.
On Sunday morning, we immediately started with Q1, which I managed to win. My dad used Pink Phub as additive and softened the settings on the Hobbywing ESC and now the car was a dream!
I was again on TQ pace in Q2, but a front blade came loose and I had to retire the car as it constantly over steered.
For Q3 we increased the inner roll centers shims from 1.5 to 2mm front and rear and also installed the larger steering limiter shims and I managed to TQ the race, but the cars behind still had faster single laptimes.
I also managed to win A1 and A2 but came under big pressure from Nicolas Delisé and Joe Streff. After A2 my dad told me he made an error with the car (the front inserts should have been .5 out, but he put them .5 out and up), so we decided to run A3. The car was now awesome to drive and I set also the fastest laptime. Unfortunately one of the tires was unglued and I spun out twice.

In modified I finished P4 in the end. Next weekend, the EWS in Thundersley (UK) will be our last indoor race of the season. I’m looking forward to race the T4 20 outdoors.
