RC Heats ‘n’ Race Team Took a Double Victory in Finland’s Largest Touring Car Class in the 2024-2025 Season
The final and decisive race of the Kerhocup Onroad Racing Series, held on 29.3.2025 in Koria, Finland, brought plenty of excitement, as it marked the conclusion of the entire season. Top-level RC racing and fierce battles for positions were seen throughout the day across three different classes, as the season championships and podium spots were determined in Finland’s largest touring car class, GT2000, as well as in the highly popular Mini Classic and Mini Competition classes. RC Heats ’n‘ Race team made history by securing the top positions in the GT2000 class in their very first season.
GT2000: RC Heats ’n‘ Race Double Victory!
The GT2000 class was by far the largest and most popular RC touring car class of the 2024-2025 season, and the Kerhocup Onroad Racing Series was the largest on-road racing competition in Finland. RC Heats ’n‘ Race team’s Joonis Oksanen had already secured the GT2000 championship in the previous race, and his victory in the final race sealed his overall series win with a perfect score. The battle for the other top positions was intense, continuing all the way to the final race and finish line, as the top three competitors fought each other fiercely throughout the eight-minute race. RC Heats ’n‘ Race team’s Jona Oksanen claimed the 3rd final round victory, securing a double win for the team in the overall series. Jussi Rinne from Äänekoski provided strong competition, earning a well-deserved third-place finish in the overall standings.

Mini Classic: Petri Ström’s Perfect Performance!
The Mini Classic class was dominated throughout the season by Äänekoski’s Petri Ström, who also claimed victory in the final race, winning the class with a perfect score. This victory in the season finale crowned Petri’s outstanding season. Kalle Raatikainen fought brilliantly to secure second place, while Kai Jansson from Kypak earned a well-deserved third place with a fantastic drive. The Mini Classic class delivered fast-paced and thrilling racing, with competitors fiercely battling for every position throughout the series.
Mini Competition: Kalle Raatikainen’s Outstanding Class Victory!
In the Mini Competition class, Äänekoski’s Kalle Raatikainen delivered a performance of his own class, securing the championship in a thrilling battle for the top spot. Janne Valtanen from Oulu claimed second place with an incredibly fast drive, while Äänekoski’s Jani Korhonen made an impressive climb to take third place on the podium. The competition in the Mini Competition class was exceptionally tight, with fierce pace throughout the race.
Season’s Best Awards
The season’s best junior driver award was presented to Eemeli Suomalainen from Äänekoski, who competed impressively in the GT2000 class, securing an excellent sixth place in the final standings. Anu Raatikainen from Äänekoski was awarded the season’s best female driver title for her exceptional driving performance in Mini Classic class.
Kerhocup Onroad Racing Series: The Series’ Popularity Has Grown Even Further!
The popularity of the Kerhocup Onroad Racing Series has blossomed into a new golden age, and following a brief decline due to Covid, the popularity of RC car racing has risen once again. Over the course of the season, six different races were held across Finland. The series has sparked great interest, bringing many new drivers into the world of RC racing. Especially the GT2000 touring car class has seen a significant rise in popularity, and the Mini class has also welcomed a solid influx of new competitors. Overall, participating in the series and races has been easy to access to drivers of all skill levels, which speaks volumes about the widespread appeal of the series. The Kerhocup Onroad Racing Series has once again proven that Finnish RC racing is home to some highly competitive, top-tier events, and is showcasing many promising talents for the future.
